- your tape measure (metal is best)
- your step ladder
- a pen and some paper
At DIY Custom Blinds, we make it simple to order perfectly-fitted double roller blinds for your windows—even when measuring yourself. Follow these easy steps to get the right fit and enjoy a seamless installation process.
Before We Proceed, Let's Decide the following first
Decide: Inside-Mount or Outside-Mount?
Inside-Mount (Reveal Fit): Double roller blinds are installed neatly within the window recess for a clean, streamlined look.Outside-Mount (Face Fit): The blinds are mounted outside the window frame, overlapping it for better light control and a bold finish.Choose the style that works best for your space and measure accordingly.
Inside-Mount (Reveal Fit)
1. Width: Measure inside the top, middle, and bottom of the window recess from left to right. Record the smallest measurement.
2. Height: Measure from the top to the bottom on the left, center, and right of the recess. Again, use the smallest value.
3. Depth: Measure from the glass or window handle to the front of the recess to ensure there’s enough space for the double roller system.
Pro Tip: Always use the smallest measurements to make sure both layers of the double roller blinds roll freely without catching on the frame.
Outside-Mount (Face Fit)
1. Width: Measure across the full width of the architrave or frame, then add 50 mm on each side. This ensures full coverage and reduces light gaps.
2. Height: Measure from the top of the frame to your desired blind endpoint (e.g., window sill or floor). Add 50 mm to prevent light leaks at the top and bottom.
This extra overlap guarantees better blockout performance from your double roller blinds.
2. Height: Measure from the top of the frame to your desired blind endpoint (e.g., window sill or floor). Add 50 mm to prevent light leaks at the top and bottom.
This extra overlap guarantees better blockout performance from your double roller blinds.
Record & Double‑Check
Write down your final width, height, and (for inside-mount) depth. Always measure twice, preferably with two people—one to hold the tape measure. Clearly label dimensions, such as “Width 1220 mm” instead of “1.22 m”, to avoid confusion.
Place Your Order
For inside-mount double roller blinds, we deduct a small margin automatically to ensure a perfect fit within your window recess. For outside-mount, the blinds are made to your exact dimensions, including the recommended extra overlap.
